Belle Hearts Taupe

As I lie in bed under my taupe quilt, head on a taupe pillow wearing yes, you guessed it, taupe pyjamas I wonder ~ where did this love affair of what is basically the colour of old tea start?

When I was creating my own wedding dress in Red Silk Satin I remember thinking “Blimey, what colour shoes? Black? No, too Goth. Gold? No, too Christmassy {especially for a December wedding} Then there she was starring me in the face again. Taupe.

The wonderful thing about taupe is that it can be paired up with any colour and what’s more, make any colour look more sophisticated. It adds a certain chic to brights and softens any dark. A taupe shoe will go with any outfit and take you from day to evening. A taupe dress on the other hand says look at The Women not me ~ it makes you look at the bolder colours of her hair, eyes and face. A confident woman will wear a taupe shade dress ~ it’s almost like being laid bare. Take Kate Middleton’s dress to meet the Obamas ~ it says “I am not overpowering, I am quietly confident and I’m not hiding anything.”

Taupe shades always get a reaction in our boutique ~ like marmite, you’re either a lover or a hater. Some people adamant they can’t wear it because it’s too close to their skin colour and will wash them out or drooling all over its soft, subtle gorgeousness like me.

Call it what you like Taupe, Greige, Tan or Nude ~ I’m a complete Lover and am drowning in my {taupe coloured} tea cup! Belle.x

If your also Team Taupe like Belle, here’s some looks for your delectation!

These two color story posts are fabulous! I love the gorgeous colors that you both chose, and the photos really capture the essence of both of them. Now I’m definitely inspired to rock some coral and taupe!
