How to be an Isabel Marant Girl

We’ve been mulling over a new “mini series” for a little while and finally we are happy to tell you the 1st one is here! Ok, so let us explain a bit more: there are a few designers who’s collections we pretty much love season after season. We are calling it a mini series as it’ll be just that. There are only a handful of designers who we feel get it right time after time and who’s handwriting and aesthetic we lurve. Big time.

The big sticking point with this concept is the price point of the clothes we were talking about as they are all pretty pricey and tbh, most of us can’t regularly afford, especially if you want to fully buy into the look, head~to~toe.

So our take on the idea is how to get the designers look but from the high street. Pieces HEAVILY inspired by the designers we love but at prices we can afford.

1st up is Queen of French cool ~ Isabel Marant

Incase you’ve been living under a big fat rock, Isabel Marant is a French fashion designer who’s bohemian aesthetic and casual clothes are worn by some of the coolest people around. There’s just something about the Marant style: it looks casual but put together, and embodies the masculine/feminine mix that we love so much. A spot of tailoring mixed with some pretty embroidery and oversize ruffles really floats our fashion boat.

“I am my first customer… My approach has always been: would I like to wear this garment? I do prêt-a-porter; I do not revolutionise the fashion world,” she said in 2011.

We like this chick.

If ever there is a designer thats starts trends it’s Marant. Bold statement but SO true. The wedge trainer, the victoriana blouse, we could go on… the list is endless and has produced never ending inspo for the high street, which is lucky for those of us who love the style and also love high street prices. We styled up these looks all from stores you may know and have drawn inspiration from that Isabel Marant ‘look’. Each piece doesn’t break the bank and we think is perfect for the coming warmer {fingers crossed} months.

Aswell as well cut dresses, aztec jackets and some of the best boots around, the key to this look is proportion. If you have a skinny bottom half {be it jeans, mini or micro shorts} then counterbalance with volume on the top half, and vice versa.

We love our British roots but are willing to cheat to embrace some french girl cool.

Just call us Isa~Belle & Bunty.

Bon Shopping!
