How We Unwind On The Weekend

We must ‘fess up that although we love the Summer and all it brings {read: leather sandals, little dresses and cold white wine} come Autumn we are itching to get out the chunky knits, cosy coats and ankle boots. Is there anything better than wrapping up on a fresh day with that low in the sky sunshine and having a little down time. As oversharers bloggers we thought it only right that we share a few of our favourite things to do at the weekend to try and switch off a little.

As you probably know, aswell as writing this blog we also run our own brand where we make pretty occasionwear and wedding dresses {if not, why not ~ check out our collections here} so most often one or both of us will be in our London boutique on a Saturday advising brides and helping them find their dream wedding dress. So our down time where we are not physically at work {when you run 2 of your own businesses mentally you never switch off} is very precious. We like to spend time with our family and friends and over the years have found ways in which we can relax. It can be really hard to take the time for yourself when you are working {and have children} but here are a few ways we unwind on the weekend!

Leisurely stroll and Sunday roast

You can often find us on Hampstead Heath in North London, Alice is often there walking Pearl the dog {btw did you catch Pearls’ own interview in LifeStyleTails here} and having a cheeky glass of wine and roast dinner at The Freemason Arms pub just on the edge of the heath on a Sunday. It serves great food, is in close proximity to Hampstead High Street which has pretty much all of our fave mid~level brands and has a pretty pink house to Instagram next door. Ticks all the boxes! The Heath itself is beautiful and vast plus a walk across it always makes for a great way of getting up an appetite for your roast dinner. Kenwood House is also on Hampstead Heath and is a a pretty place to aim for when walking through, check out the rose bush lined walls and great coffee.

Burst of Exercise

No time for hours and hours of slogging it out in the gym but a quick burst to get your endorphins going is a great way to start the day in our book. You’ll find Alice taking an adult Ballet classs or her much loved static trapeze classes and Hannah getting in some interval training or resistance work. Hot new athleisure brand Zakti is our go~to for thick leggings that hug and hold you in all the right places and comfy breathable vests {see our post on Zakti here}

Market & Vintage Shopping

Long time market lovers and vintage wearers, when at University at The London College of Fashion we would spend practically every Friday at portobello Market sniffing out great finds like some sort of sartorial police sniffer dogs. Nowadays Columbia Road Flower Market is closer to home and fills us with joy every time we visit and come away with armfuls of glorious seasonal flowers. We love it so much we even got up at 6am one Sunday to shoot a blog post there, see we really are committed to the cause! You’ll also see us browsing the nearby vintage shops around Spitalfields Market or in Stoke Newington at Mint vintage shop picking up pairs of old Levis.

Day Out to Spank the Credit Card

It’s very rare and normally we tie this in with our work but a day out shopping {kid free!} can be a nice way to while away a weekend day. Coffee stops and time for a vino to ease the post shopping guilt is always a must. We particular love a visit to the newly expanded Bicester Village where they now have not only some of our much loved brands like Chloé and Maje but have recently added 30 new boutiques including See by Chloé and also Acne. If you go read our post here on tricks we’ve learnt when shopping at the village to find the best bargains!

Those are a few of the ways we try to relax at the weekends, we’d love to hear how you switch off and enjoy your down time as we are always looking for fun things to do and new places to visit. Comment below!
