Pleated Skirts and Metallic Knits

Our love of pleated skirts started around the time we found our love in blogging. We realised prancing around the pastel streets of London was kind of fun and this blog post proves it. There’s something undescribably enjoyable about the swoosh. Not the one from a big sporting giant, no no, but the fabulous feeling a full pleated skirt gives you. Our advice: Just do it.

Now Black Friday has finished {it was a bit overwhelming wasn’t it} we have decided it is time to talk about Christmas. Is that ok with you? Over the coming month we’ll be sharing a whole heap of festive outfit inspiration, from partywear to what to wear on Christmas Day aswell as NYE sartorial inspo. Basically if you have an event that you may need an outfit for, or would like some inspiration on how to put pieces together to make them work for you, then we are ya gals.

First up we are staring where we started: pleats please!

Sometimes you just don’t want to dress up by wearing a dress. You understand don’t you?!

There’s a time and a place for a dress and the simplicity of popping one on and bobs you uncle you are done, but they can feel a bit too ‘done’. You know the we pretty much always like to dress down dressy items, to find the perfect balance between making an effect but not being the overdressed girl at the party. Confusing isn’t it?!

This combo is therefore a friend of ours. As we mentioned the immense swooshy joy of a pleated skirt has to be experienced to be believed as it is such a fun item to wear and without wearing anything too sparkly or OTT a metallic fine knit sweater seems like a great way of making this look seem event/party appropriate. Of course a killer heel here would go down a treat but also a slouchy knee high boot or midi sock boot adds a little laid back feel that we kind of like. See: dressed up but down.

A waist belt to tie the look together is a must and if you like to make your sparkle for the festive season a little subtle {like we do} then go for a metallic fine knit or soft sheen skirt which won’t make you look like a human Quality Street. We’ll just leave that ’til Christmas Day at around 8pm when we have consumed 3/4 of a tin.

Roll on Christmas!
