How to Wear Reworked Denim

Just like daily episodes of Neighbours, reversible sweaters and Nobbly Bobbly lollys, Levi’s & a high waisted, straight leg Jean conjure up a sense of nostalgia. Throwbacks to ’80s childhood that leave us feeling warm inside, thinking about long Summer holidays with nothing to do but play. No social media, no Kardashians and only the original Pokemon to entertain.

Nostalgia towards those things we loved while growing up is of course nothing new and only natural to crave the familiar. In fact doesn’t fashion always looks back? Perhaps we all like a sartorial comfort blanket.

So it’s no surprise that re-worked denim has become a ‘thing’. Those Vetements patchworked Levi jeans are probably one of the biggest instant hits despite the price tag, thanks to the bevy of streetstyle stars wearing them last season. Urban Outfitters have much more affordable versions of cut-about Levis and of course the highstreet dupes have started.

We were dubious at first… but once tried on the adoration of this design was clear. The high waist is like a jean-Spanx: stomach flattening and butt lifting, the stepped hem adds interest and shows off your shoes to the max {mule Gucci fur lined loafer if you are going the full streetstyle star hog} and the panelled leg seams are leg lengthener extraodinaires. We think styling this denim style with a skin flashing top and ankle bearing stiletto heels work well to balance out proportions and ensure just the right amount of flesh is flashed.

So either grab some scissors and start diy-ing your own {we found a great tutorial here} or check out the high street versions, with surely many more to hit come Autumn, just make sure you are first in the line to catch them as they will no doubt be flying off the shelves.

Alternatively you can always jump on another bandwagon and catch Pokemon?!

We know which we’d rather.
