Why You Need a Knee High

It was only a matter of time. With all things 70s making a mega come back in recent seasons a true retro style statement is back. Hello, the knee high boot.

A sartorial come back kid, knee high boots have been in our wardrobes before in the v. late Nineties when, as students at The London College of Fashion, we both wore them tucked into washed denim skinny jeans. That may very well have been the beginning of our twinning. So when Jones Bootmaker asked us to style their delightful leather knee highs we were keen to style an old favourite in a new way.

The classic knee high boot is a more casual cousin of the racier OTK boot. We love how multipurpose the style is with a whole heap of styling opportunities. Some key factors to look for when picking your knee high’s include:

A wider more roomy fit seems more modern while emulating that 70s cool plus they are endlessly more flattering on the leg than something skin tight. Chanel your inner Chloé girl with knee highs and diaphanous midi dresses or micro minis and chunky jumpers.

A stacked block heel is also a must in this style and we’d definitely opt for leather to hold its shape while looking sassy AF. We love the slight shine to the leather in this Jones Bootmaker Tabitha style, they just scream quality and give a nod the vinyl trend that’s big this season. Everything is pretty near perfection in this Thea style: the shape, detailing and heel height make them a perfect companion for this winter.

Aswell as classic black, all brown tones and burgundy too {we have our eyes on this pair} look great for major Autumn/Winter vibes.

There are a lot of Nineties trends we’ll be steering clear of but this one we are happy to have back & firmly on our feet.
