Christmas Party Style Ideas with Monsoon

‘Tis the season to be Jolly and what better way than to host your own festive party! Deck the halls and fill up those champagne flutes. We are partial to throwing dinner parties so when Monsoon asked us to play hosts for the day at the gorgeous Langham Hotel in Central London, surrounded by pretty decor and sumptuous festive food we didn’t need to be asked twice.

If you’ve got the food, drinks and decor sorted, the question on your lips might be how to decorate yourself. What to wear when you are being a hostess with the mostess

We thought we’d share our 3 top tips when choosing your Christmas dinner party outfit to nail a simple, chic

Just like these 2 sequin dresses, if you are going to go short we’d suggest opting for a lose silhouette. Especially if you are picking a dress with festive sparkle then an unstructured, casual fit gives a laid back feel to something that could be a little too much in a fitted shape. We’d opt for a sleeve too for a modern touch but if you find a sleeveless shift dress that you love try layering up like Alice and pop a pretty blouse underneath.

Tip 2

If a dress is too dressy for you, we like to mix and match with party separates. If you saw our outfit post on suits here you will know we love the suited & booted look for a chic party outfit and rather than a shirt or blouse, we’d dress it down with a silky cami underneath so you don’t look like Miss Marple. A sequin skirt also makes for a cute party option and would work with a variety of tops such as a simple plain t-shirt, oversize silk shirt {unbuttoned and with lots of layered delicate necklaces} or a cute ruffle detail blouse with metallic thread to pick up the shine of the sequin and add an extra special festive touch.

Tip 3

By far our failsafe when it comes to doing ‘Dressy’ is a great shoe. Plus the best thing about a statement shoe is that it is most definitely not just for Christmas. Opt for a bold colour such as these poppy red heels which look chic with black and metallics but would also work with washed denim. The sweet bow on the heel is an added extra in our book. Another option and something that is really on trend for Winter is embellished detail. We’ve seen lots of boots with jacquard patterns or different textures but love these bejewelled court shoes. You can’t go wrong with black and gold.
