The Power of Pink

Pink is having A Moment in the fashion spotlight. From palest rose to deep magenta: pink is everywhere we look. Now, you don’t need to tell us about pink. We are not sure how it happened but our love of the rosy hue has just happened over the past few years. Always drawn to shades of vintagesque nudes and peaches, pink has joined the motley crew.

It seems that it’s not just us that has found a friend in pink. Think of all the shades of pink gracing street style stars and next season that will reign supreme with *that* Gucci pink fur coat {you know the one}. And WE get it, we totally do. And we think that you get it too… but lets discuss. Unless you are in the avid monochrome camp.

Then look away now.

Whether you are open to wearing pink attire or dip your little toe into it in your day~to~day life, we believe the attraction is more than just a visual experience; it influences our feelings and behaviours. So when Pink Lady® apples sent us information about their Power of Pink campaign it struck a chord. See we told you, pink is emotional.

Their research agrees: Pink is light red. Red is one of the four psychological primaries representing the physical so whilst red is physically stimulating, as a softer, lighter version of red, pink is physically soothing, which is why on the whole we find pink an attractive, calming, gentle hue and can be drawn to it.

All over pink might be a stretch to far even for pink officandos like us, so don’t do that Barbie look but wear with worn in denim, washed out black or bright, whites for a striking feel-good Summer look. Find a shade that suits your skin tone and stick to it. You can also make a bold statement with pink accessories as they do all the talking and are perfect without being too girly. Essentially pink can be a bit of a busy colour, so keeping outfits minimal and fuss-free is key. Makeup of course is also where pink comes into its own: a striking hot pink lipstick is great for strong, assertive, independent women who love the femininity of pink, but feel soft pinks are just a bit too girly. Otherwise a soft warm pink lipstick and rosy blush is eternally flattering and an array of pink shades work so well on nails, from hot pink to bubblegum and pale rose!

If wearing pink isn’t for you then there are many ways of injecting a little pink into your daily life.  A bunch of pretty roses might seem obvious {although sure to make you smile} How about a pink lounge? After much Pinterest pinning {do you follow us btw?!} Alice delved into interiors pink in a BIG WAY. We are talking pink sofa, pink walls, the works. You can see the results here and notice that what might sound a little scary works beautifully. Softer pinks such as warm baby pink, pastel pink and nude along with the blue-based dusty pinks have softer, more feminine, gentle energy. If that’s not for you then feisty magenta can bring energy, so use this as an accent colour in the home to bring dynamic energy to any room. The warm reddy pink tones in a Pink Lady® apple itself are perfect colour references for a touch of pink, like the top of this wooden stool and gardening basket.

Pink doesn’t need to be soft and girly, we think it can be pretty and powerful and can find its way into many aspects of your day to day life. Find your shade and let the Power of Pink works its magic.

More stylish, less saccharine.
